Tehillim 40:1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David.
Tehillim 40:2 I waited patiently for the L-rd; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
Tehillim 40:3 He brought me up also out of the tumultuous pit, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock, He established my goings.
Tehillim 40:4 And He has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our G-d; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in the L-rd.
Tehillim 40:5 Happy is the man that has made the L-rd his trust, and has not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously.
Tehillim 40:6 Many things have You done, O L-rd my G-d, even Your wonderful works, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto You! If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
Tehillim 40:7 Sacrifice and meal-offering You have no delight in; mine ears have You opened; burnt-offering and sin-offering have You not required.
Tehillim 40:8 Then said I: ‘Lo, I am come with the roll of a book which is prescribed for me;
Tehillim 40:9 I delight to do Your will, O my G-d; yea, Your law is in my inmost parts.’
Tehillim 40:10 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O L-rd, You know.
Tehillim 40:11 I have not hid Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your mercy and Your truth from the great congregation.
Tehillim 40:12 You, O L-rd, will not withhold Your compassions from me; let Your mercy and Your truth continually preserve me.
Tehillim 40:13 For innumerable evils have compassed me about, mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart has failed me.
Tehillim 40:14 Be pleased, O L-rd, to deliver me; O L-rd, make haste to help me.
Tehillim 40:15 Let them be ashamed and abashed together that seek after my soul to sweep it away; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that delight in my hurt.
Tehillim 40:16 Let them be appalled by reason of their shame that say unto me: ‘Aha, aha.’
Tehillim 40:17 Let all those that seek You rejoice and be glad in You; let such as love Your salvation say continually: ‘The L-rd be magnified.’
Tehillim 40:18 But, as for me, that am poor and needy, the L-rd will account it unto me; You are my help and my deliverer; O my G-d, tarry not.
